If all children who are challenged with problems and difficulties in their lives were given the opportunity to be examined by a Chiropractor, there might be a lot more children in this world enjoying a better quality of life. And that could mean a lifetime free of learning challenges and drugging!

Take the case of young Max Wilson of Great Britain, for instance. Here is a child who had already received the label of “autistic*.” Problems began soon after a difficult birth that included his umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck not once, but twice.

His parents soon noticed that Max was not developing in the same way that his older sister had. His eyes didn’t focus properly, and his hand movements were more uncoordinated than those of other children his age.

Max’s father was certainly concerned. “You never want to admit to yourself that you’ve got a backward child,” he said, “but it was clear that he was very, very behind. He couldn’t concentrate, was hyperactive and demanding.” The Wilsons took their son to numerous doctors and received a variety of opinions including the diagnosis of dyspraxia (poor coordination) and dyslexia (impaired ability to understand written language).

If it had not been for a very fortunate event, Max might be on Ritalin® or some other powerful psychotropic drug today. By chance, a fortuitous occurrence happened at a party that Max was attending.

The mother of one of the children attending the event had an opportunity to observe Max around the other children. Actually, Max spent most of his time at the gathering sitting under a table, his usual practice when in the company of others.

The observer noted that Max’s skeleton was out of alignment, told Max’s dad about it and suggested that he should see the Chiropractor she used.

Soon after Max’s first visit to the Chiropractor his dad made an interesting observation of his own. “It was just flicking the bones around his neck and shoulders, but that night, Max slept continuously until morning for the first time since his birth, nearly five years before.”

Max’s progress has continued forward ever since and everyone is delighted. “He sleeps like a log and has lost all that weirdness. He no longer has a classroom assistant and we’ve taken him out of preparatory school with five children in the class and put him into a little village state school where he’s flourishing. He’s still a bit behind because he effectively missed out on a couple of years of education, but you can reason with him and he’s reading and writing and it’s amazing. I can only put this down to the Chiropractic.”* Autistic: Suffering from autism, a developmental problem in which the use of language, reaction to stimuli, interpretation of the world and the formation of relationships does not follow the usual and expected patterns.
