John Hopkins researchers report that people who undergo genetic testing to determine their risk of disease often receive inadequate counseling and misinterpreted results.
As genetic testing is not a 100% proven method of determining risk of disease, genetic testing may cause more concern or worry than actual concrete information. However, if a person does want to receive genetic testing they should ask for a referral to a professional, certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
