One of the most interesting press conferences ever held on the subject of HIV and AIDS was recently presented in New York. The program lasted over 2 hours and was beamed over the Internet to almost every country in the world. Startling information was presented by a renowned researcher with impeccable credentials into fraud involved in the original proclamation that HIV causes AIDS. The event was widely publicized to the normal media channels, yet not one story detailing this monumental event appeared as follow-up.

Imagine what could happen in the medical, pharmaceutical and research world if evidence was accepted that HIV was not the cause of AIDS? What if the one scientific study that named the cause of AIDS was found to be fraudulent? What would happen if it was discovered that all of the funding that has fueled HIV/AIDS research to the tune of $218 billion dollars over the past 25 years was ill spent? What would the drug companies do if confronted with the fact that many of the medications produced to fight AIDS were indeed not needed? And, how would the survivors of AIDS victims react if the deaths of their loved ones were actually hastened rather than helped by these drugs that were promoted as life-extending?

On May 4, 1984, the prestigious publication Science carried an earthshaking story about the discovery of the retrovirus that was touted as the cause of AIDS. The research of Dr. Robert Gallo and his lead researcher Dr. Mikulas Popovic was announced and quickly became the most cited document in recent medical history. This lead to the development of diagnostic methods for identifying the presence of HIV in human blood and toward the development of new pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines aimed at conquering AIDS that has now lead to a multi-billion dollar medical industry.

Now, information has surfaced through the investigative work of British journalist Janine Roberts that seriously questions the validity of the work. She has recently unearthed original documentation in Dr. Gallo’s own handwriting that the conclusions reached through the research of Dr. Popovic were fraudulently altered by Dr. Gallo before they went to the publisher. Ms. Roberts was able to locate the original draft of the story that was presented to Science magazine in which Dr. Gallo, in his own handwriting, deliberately altered the results of this study – a study in which no retrovirus link to AIDS was actually isolated or proven.

According to information presented by Ms. Roberts and press conference host Dr. Gary Null, to this day, HIV has never been isolated from an AIDS inflected patient and photographed under an electron microscope. “The ramifications of Robert’s investigations are historic because they show that the original scientific foundation to support the hypothesis that HIV causes AIDS is flawed and has no basis in medical science,” said Dr. Null in the release about the event.

Earlier in September, Dr. Null conducted a 3 hour radio broadcast that featured the work of Ms. Roberts and laid out all of the documentation behind the false reporting by Dr. Gallo. Ms. Roberts is an award-winning British medical and cultural journalist who has spent much of her career delving into medical research, science and the politics of vaccines and viruses, including polio and AIDS. With the standard media not interested, and drug companies likely keeping this information under wraps and researchers afraid of funding cuts, it is likely that the only way this data will be known is through word of mouth and Internet searches.
